Chalcanthite || 2

Chalcanthite is a copper sulfate mineral known for its striking electric blue color, which results from the copper content within its crystal structure. It has the chemical formula CuSO₄·5H₂O, signifying that it contains copper, sulfur, oxygen, and water molecules. One of its most distinctive properties is its solubility in water—when exposed to moisture or humidity, the crystals can dissolve, which is why chalcanthite is typically found in arid environments where evaporation occurs. The mineral forms transparent, prismatic crystals with a glassy appearance, and its hardness is relatively low, around 2.5–3.5 on the Mohs scale, making it fragile and easily scratched.

Though not widely known for its metaphysical properties, some believe chalcanthite can have clarifying and protective qualities, with its vibrant blue color often associated with the throat chakra and communication in crystal healing practices. However, these beliefs are not scientifically proven. Due to its solubility, chalcanthite requires careful handling, particularly avoiding exposure to water or high humidity to preserve its integrity.
